Chloe’s life is safe and comfortable. Meeting a tall, dark stranger covered in tattoos is not in her plans. Bad boys just aren’t her type, even if they gorgeous and built like a brick wall. The alarms in her head warn that Aiden Hunter is definitely on the list of men her mother told her to avoid, but she doesn’t listen.

Still, she finds herself drawn to Aiden and the excitement she is missing in her own life. He fills her days with thrills and danger, and her nights with passion she’s never experienced before. Even though she knows he’s hiding something from her, Chloe pushes away her concerns and dives into this new way of living.

Near the beach in Miami, Aiden teaches her to live life to the fullest as Chloe battles the internal warning bells that tell her to be wary. By the time she realizes her fears may be justified, it’s too late.

Aiden’s past is catching up to him, but is he the hunter or the hunted?

“There’s never a guarantee, Chloe. You never know what life is going to throw at you.”

Chloe leads a safe, boring, predictable life. Drives cautiously, goes to work, suffers her boss’ abuse, goes home, goes to bed. Lather, rinse, repeat. The poor girl is essentially a doormat. She likes to chat with her Wonder Woman and Buffy figurines (envy) and it kind of felt like it was because she wished she could be strong and adventurous like them. When she meets a sexy stranger at a bar after a rough day, she has no clue that her life would be forever changed. He offers her a chance to be spontaneous and open herself up to new possibilities. One week away from her structured life to take a chance and get to learn more about one another.

“Life isn’t about how it ends; it’s about what you do while you’re alive.”

She is beyond intrigued by this sexy, heavily tatted man. Aiden Hunter lives life to the fullest but hides some deep, dark secrets within. And while Chloe’s alarm bells keep ringing whenever Aiden avoids her questions, she can’t stop herself from being with him. Total denial. He is one sexy beast though, so I can’t really blame her. He takes things slow with her at first, trying not to push her over an edge that she’s not ready to tumble over but when she admits it’s what she’s been longing for, the heat between them explodes.

“I’d never felt this kind of frantic need to be consumed by someone. He wasn’t just in my body; he was in my mind, my soul.”

“Now that I’ve had a taste of you, I’m going to want a lot more.”

Aiden is one sweet, sexy, dirty talking man and I loved everything about him. Every inch of his gorgeous skin is tatted, like a barrier to those that might see inside this man to what truly lies beneath.

“Actually, the more I stared at his tatted skin, the more I wanted to trace every line, every skull, every flower…with my tongue.”

I love that Chloe grows and opens herself to be adventurous, to giving Aiden a piece of herself, to being passionate and uninhibited. Aiden, oh Aiden. What can I say? All your little secrets and avoidances leading to the big reveal almost broke my heart. You also mended it with your dirty mouth. Shay does know how to write a sexy, broken alpha male like no other.

“Just say you want it, and I’m going to tear every piece of clothing from your body, hold you up against that wall right there, and fuck you until you scream so loud you drown out the rain and the ocean.”

Anyone else feel the need to crank on the AC in the middle of a brick cold winter? Yeah, me too. I stayed up into the wee hours of the morning because of this bad boy. Shay’s writing has a way of gripping you and doesn’t let go. I’m hoping some of Aiden’s buddies get their own story because I loved them almost as much as I did Aiden. This is another gem of a story and I can’t wait to read more of Shay Savage’ work.
