I fell in love with his rope skills. I stayed because somehow he took hold of my heart and made it his.
Callum Valentine didn’t mean to eavesdrop. Then again? When a man is calling a woman fat right in front of your table, it’s kind of hard not to intervene. Especially when the town’s most beautiful creature ever is the one being called fat.
Desi just wants to be left alone. After an ugly divorce, she thinks she’s in the clear. Then her ex takes it upon himself to continue to make her life miserable, giving Desi no choice but to take it or leave.
In fact, her bags were nearly all the way packed when Callum poked his nose into the most embarrassing spectacle the town of Kilgore has ever witnessed. The moment he declares her his and off limits, everything changes—and definitely not for the better.
As if things couldn’t get worse than being called a pitiful, fat heifer in front of the hottest man she’s ever seen, Callum has to go and say that she’s his, and they have to play a game that she’s not quite sure she wants to be playing.
But before her eyes, things change. And suddenly the rules of the game aren’t clear. And they’re crossing boundaries neither one of them see coming.
First, let’s get all the niceties out of the way. Yes, it’s the second book of a series but technically a stand alone. However, I highly recommend reading Georgia and Nico’s story (Double Tap) and Herd That (Book One) before reading this one, mainly because a lot has happened to this family and it’s all important to know to understand how amazing this family is. It is explained a bit in this book, but each book adds a different perspective to their past. Ok, now that all of that is out of the way, let’s get to the good stuff.
I do what I want, when I want, where I want. As long as I do it before eight, because that’s my bedtime. -Desi’s secret thoughts
This!! This is why I love this author’s books. This is why I love this series, and this is why I will continue to read LLV. If I could give this book more than 5 stars, I absolutely would.
Desi is Codie’s best friend whom we meet in Herd That. Her vindictive and cheating ex-husband has been making her life absolute hell and to top it all off, his new fiancee is wearing her Grandmother’s ring. Just as Desi is about to throw down and cut a bitch, delectable Callum Valentine swoops in like the Knight in shining armor that he is to save her sanity. He’s had his eye on her since they’ve met and he’s more than wiling to show her that not every guy is like her ex. Even if it means helping her show up her ex by running in a marathon.
With the help of the Valentine family, her best friend Codie, and her adorable father in law, Desi soon realizes that these people love her and that they are exactly what she needs in her life, surrounded by unconditional love. And oh boy, do they do a phenomenal job. The Valentine family is so supportive and the whole scene with the marathon gives major feels.
Callum claims her as his from the start and does everything to show Desi that he loves every curve. Swoon. This is the hottest of LLV’s books and I was loving it. OMG, the heat level was off the charts. This book had all the feels; the heat, the love, the banter and the family togetherness make this a new favorite read. And I mean like top five, for sure. I adored it so much and I actually immediately started rereading once I was done because I really didn’t want it to end. Ten stars, hands down.
Have you ever put two and two together and come up with fifteen reasons to smack a motherfucker?
