Beautiful Laurie Dodd was perfectly happy with her life. Raised by her loving aunt, she was ready to discover life out on her own. A new town, a new teaching job, a new apartment, and new friends. Finding a new man was not on her list, especially not one with the reputation of a player.
Rob McDonald, a local firefighter, had grown tired of one-night stands, but had no desire to be paired with the new woman in town. Until he met her. One look was all it took and Rob knew that Laurie was the one for him, but he was going to have to work to convince her that he was a changed man. One that was worthy of her.
A fire at the elementary school brought them together, but illness and deceit threatened to tear them apart.
Will Rob be able to find the missing pieces of Laurie’s past to help her fight for her future?
Will Laurie be able to forgive Rob’s deceit in order to have a future with him?

This is the first book that I’ve read by Maryann Jordan and I loved it.
The book opens with a nice background into Laurie’s life from the time her parents meet to what leads up to her moving. She quickly becomes friends with her roommate Carol and her wonderful group of friends which includes the very sexy, certified bachelor, Rob. Laurie Dodd is ready to begin a new chapter of her life by moving to Fairfield and being a teacher and Rob is exactly what she does not want or need in her life. A player with a capital P, she does not want a man who will take her heart only to crush.

Rob is a sexy firefighter who has also slept with most of the town’s women, unwilling to settle down and make a permanent relationship with one. Until the moment he meets Laurie. There is just something about her that makes him want to be better man for her. Someone worthy of her.

This book had everything you could possibly ask for. It was sexy, it was sweet. We even had some action and suspense thrown in. I loved each of the characters introduced and I’m dying to read Emma’s (Laurie’s aunt) story.

“I love you Rob. I love who you are. I love how you make me feel. I love who we are together.”
