Unexpected Fate is book one of the Hope Town series and fans of the Corps Security series will be happy that the gang is back and the kids are getting their HEA. Might I first say that I loved Cohen and Dani’s story so much that I ended up rereading it. Great writing, hot sex, equally sexy characters, and drama galore had me at the edge of my seat the entire book. I loved the connection that these two characters have from childhood and how the book is centered so much on the family that is the Corps security group. Axel, of course, being the super over-protective father of Dani (little princess) and Cage being Cohen’s father, you gang is displayed prominently throughout the book but you never lose the fact that the story is about Dani and Cohen. This is ultimately a friends to lovers book that I could not put down.
Dani has been in love with Cohen since they were children but Cohen has fought his attraction for her. Between the age difference, their families being so closely intertwined and his stint with special ops, he knew that if things didn’t work out with them, it would end very badly. But Dani has never been shy of showing Cohen how she feels and at 15, Dani shows him her heart.
“Mark my words, Cohen Cage. One of these days, you’re going to be mine. And until you’re ready . . . I’ll be here. I’ll be waiting.”
Those words haunt Cohen and are ultimately, as he gets older, the one thing that centers him. When he goes off on his missions, it’s the thing that grounds him and gives him hope that he’ll get home safe…to her. It isn’t until Dani finally makes the move and kisses him that Cohen can’t keep denying what he feels for her and gives in. And boy does he give in!! Hot damn. Cohen is one sexy ass dirty talker! Those scenes were smoking hot and I loved every second of them.
“Can’t stop, Dani-girl. Now that I finally know what you taste like…I can’t stop.”
So what happens when they finally get together? Well, that’s where you need to read. Drama, more sex (lots more), mistakes, and over protective daddies are just the tip of this fantastic read. I can not wait for more!
